What did you do to your car recently?

Broke it.

Looking forward to getting it back together.

In the meantime. Building my buddy’s 92’ Foxbody drag car.

Required here at my track. I wouldn't make a pass without one required or not.
Its required here at a certain ET or MPH not sure what they are but I know I have to have one. I was only 60ft testing so I wasn't worried for safety so much before. I'll have it on before any real hits happen. I also don't want to oil the track if something did happen.

What diaper do you have? I just have the generic ones on both my cars and the fit is so -so. Would rather have one that is form fitted. Also Neither one cover the oil filter which I think should be included in the coverage.

Its a Stroud Nylon SFI 7.2 Engine Diaper. Really nice looking piece but I haven’t installed it yet. I know from the picture on their website it covers the entire front of the pan unlike some I have seen. I don’t know about the oil filter yet though. If I was guessing I would think it does. It seems large.

Jacked it up and thought about putting this engine diaper on it.
When IHRA made the diaper rule I ordered a semi- custom diaper , they asked for engine type , type of car , stock frame or chassis , ect . It was not a full custom made diaper but supposedly a better fit than a " one size fits all" diaper. The thing came with nylon straps, the straps that pass by the headers lasted about 10 minutes before they melted . I sent it back to get Kevlar straps put in their place and have not had a problem with melting straps since.. It was not a low budget diaper so I would think Kevlar straps in the header area should have been standered especially on a stock frame car where headers are a tight fit.

I agree some straps that don't melt would be a great start. Not sure what the straps are made of but these are semi specific. Meaning you have to select what engine and if its a wet sump. I know there were quite a few options. I also know it was over $400 for this one so being almost 3 times the price of many others. Using that logic and it was Stroud brand I hope its gonna be like a glove.

I hope it does fit like a glove .
I do not know if you ever used a diaper before so I will give you a heads up . The engine diapers I have experience with go behind the starter ( the starter is not under the diaper) that might help you when trying to make it fit and you think it's too small.

Let me know how you like it . I bought some extra diaper pads separately from summit and Tucked them in around the sides of my 10 quart pan , that’s a lot of oil to soak up .

I’ll try this evening after work to start on it. I’ll also see about pictures and post up what happens on my build thread here.

I understand the 10qt being a lot. My oil system over all is just shy of 11qts. With a big filter its over 11. My ProCharger is the older version that is oil fed. I have a inline cooler cooling the oil before it enters the ProCharger. Oil changes suck.

Hopefully it won’t hammer a hole in the bottom you won’t have to catch all 10qts. But I know we can’t count on that.

Haven't done shit outside of working on daily drivers and looking for other projects to buy so I have a reason not to get after the 57. Some recent life changes have changed that timeline however and a fire has been lit under my ass. When I get something going I'll post about it but it's gonna be a minute.

Been slowly working on my old 93 W 350 Dodge Cummins truck, for my 18 year old grandson, who is in love with it. Thursday, I charged the ac with a can of R 12, first time freon has been added to it since it was new, got it to 32psi on the low side, nice and chilly! Finally got it streetable yesterday after removing the pickup bed, and putting a flatbed on it. Checked the wipers, could hear and feel the wiper motor running, but no wipers. GD nylon bushings on all the wiper linkage pivots rotted and fell off. Real pita getting to, and replacing those bastards, all afternoon job. Have to work on a step ladder, the truck sits so high. But the wipers now work!
And the grandson is out tooling around with it now, with all his redneck buddies!

Old pic of the truck, bought it new in 93, has been a good one.
