Redwood National Forest. Sequoia trees out in Yosemite are another variety of redwood, those are girthy. The redwoods in Northern California, coastal redwoods are fucking tall! There’s one that was topped by the wind at 290’ up. The trunk of the tree is still 6’ wide up that high. Who knows how tall it was.. the trees don’t have tap roots. Essentially they all hold hands with shallow fibrous root systems. They’re kinda fire resistant in that their bark is super thick and airy. Lots of burned out trees (hollowed out by flames at the base) but still alive over 100’ in the air. Some big ol trees! 1500 years old in some cases.
